At most 27 length inequalities define Maskit ’ s fundamental domain for the modular group in genus 2

چکیده
In recently published work Maskit constructs a fundamental domain Dg for the Teichmüller modular group of a closed surface S of genus g ≥ 2. Maskit’s technique is to demand that a certain set of 2g non-dividing geodesics C2g on S satisfies certain shortness criteria. This gives an a priori infinite set of length inequalities that the geodesics in C2g must satisfy. Maskit shows that this set of inequalities is finite and that for genus g = 2 there are at most 45. In this paper we improve this number to 27. Each of these inequalities: compares distances between Weierstrass points in the fundamental domain S \ C4 for S ; and is realised (as an equality) on one or other of two special surfaces. Boundary Maps and Fenchel-nielsen-maskit Coordinates
We consider a genus 2 surface, M , of constant negative curvature and we construct a 12-sided fundamental domain, where the sides are segments of the lifts of closed geodesics on M (which determines the Fenchel–Nielsen–Maskit coordinates). Then we study the linear fractional transformations of the side pairing of the fundamental domain. This construction gives rise to 24 distinct points on the ...
متن کاملFundamental Solutions of Dynamic Poroelasticity and Generalized Termoelasticity
Fundamental solutions of dynamic poroelasticity and generalized thermoelasticity are derived in the Laplace transform domain. For poroelasticity, these solutions define the solid displacement field and the fluid pressure in fluid-saturated media due to a point force in the solid and an injection of fluid in the pores. In addition, approximate fundamental solutions for short times are derived by...
متن کاملSome functional inequalities in variable exponent spaces with a more generalization of uniform continuity condition
Some functional inequalities in variable exponent Lebesgue spaces are presented. The bi-weighted modular inequality with variable exponent $p(.)$ for the Hardy operator restricted to non- increasing function which is$$int_0^infty (frac{1}{x}int_0^x f(t)dt)^{p(x)}v(x)dxleqCint_0^infty f(x)^{p(x)}u(x)dx,$$ is studied. We show that the exponent $p(.)$ for which these modular ine...
متن کاملOn the Maskit Slice of 4-dimensional Kleinian Punctured Torus Groups
Let Γ be a 3-dimensional Kleinian punctured torus group with accidental parabolics. The deformation space of Γ in the group of Möbius transformations on the 2-sphere is well-known as the Maskit slice of punctured torus groups. In this paper, we study the deformation space of Γ in the group of Möbius transformations on the 3-sphere, where Γ is naturally regarded as a 4-dimensional Kleinian group...
متن کاملDeriving Fuzzy Inequalities Using Discrete Approximation of Fuzzy Numbers
Most of the researches in the domain of fuzzy number comparisons serve the fuzzy number ordering purpose. For making a comparison between two fuzzy numbers, beyond the determination of their order, it is needed to derive the magnitude of their order. In line with this idea, the concept of inequality is no longer crisp however it becomes fuzzy in the sense of representing partial belonging or de...
